Journal History

The journal was founded in 2018 as a logical continuation of the twenty-five years of research and educational activities of the Center for the Study of Religions at the Russian State University for Humanities in Moscow. The Center’s researches are well known in the domestic and international religious studies community. Our editorial board and the International Council include specialists in various fields from both Russia and abroad. From the very first issue, the journal offered the studies on a wide variety of subjects. A special focus was made on the interaction of religion and culture, the relationship between religion and ethnicity, the link of religion and gender. There have been also publications on popular religious, on religious art, on religious involvement in politics. The journal also publishes new inedited sources. The book review section provides accounts of recent religious studies publications.
